Assembly

Fluffing the Joshua Head/Yucca

  1. Fold the top 5 layers of leaves UP (every other leaf as you go around for best results) to create a “ball” look.
  2. Adjust bottom 5 layers of leaves as desired by folding DOWN to your preference.
  3. Mount or stake the base plate down as desired.

Mounting • All Sculptures

1. Prepare a hole for a concrete mounting pad. Various hole dimensions listed below.

JOSHUA TREE

  • Single Arm: 23"x23"x4"
  • 2 Arms/3 Arms: 30"x30"x8"
  • 5 Arms: 36"x36"x8"

PALM TREE

  • 10’-12’: 36"x36"x8"
  • 14’-16’: 40"x40"x12"

SAGUARO

  • 7’-14': 30"x30"x8"
  • 17’+: 40"x40"x15"

Note: When pouring your pad, ensure the concrete is 1" above ground level so water runs away from the base of your sculpture.

2. Mix concrete in the hole. Level surface.

Concrete securing options:

  1. Preferable for most sculptures: Allow concrete to cure per instructions. Use hammer drill to drill through hole in base plate and into concrete. Tap anchor into hole and tighten nut.

  2. Alternative: Mix concrete drier (less water) than manufacturers instructions. After 20-30 minutes of curing, place cactus on concrete pad. Use hammer to tap anchors through holes in base until flush. Wait 7-10 days before tightening nuts.

Desert Steel is not liable for any sculpture or property damage due to incorrect installation.

Base 1 works for most sculptures, but use base 2 for added stability for the following sculptures and those larger: 9' Joshua Trees, 12' Palm Tree, and 17' Saguaros.
